Ukrainsk besøg i Danmark
- Det har været overvældende og inspirerende at se og møde de mange engagerede mennesker. Sig mange tak til dem vi har besøgt. Vi har fået mange spændende konkrete idéer med tilbage - og set, at mennesker med intelligenshandicap kan leve uden for institutionerne.
Den første uge af september havde DEH inviteret formanden og næstformanden for den nationale paraplyorganisation for mennesker med intelligenshandicap i Ukraine (som LEV) på besøg i Danmark.
Det var et intensivt program fra morgen til aften. Startende med et besøg på Kunstskolen for udviklingshæmmede og de andre tilbud på Svanevej i København. Besøg hos Den sociale Virksomhed i Guldborgsund, Bo og Naboskab Præstø, Folketinget, Ombudsmanden, LEV, Handicaprådet i Stevns, Frivillighedscentret på Vesterbro, møde med Veluxfonden, Det Centrale Handicapråd, Center for Menneskerettigheder og alt det kulturelle, kommercielle og turistede, man skal se i Danmark. Plus naturligvis en masse samtaler om samarbejde, hvad der er brug for - i den aktuelle krisesituation og på lidt længere sigt, hvis mennesker med udviklingshæmning skal leve et så selv- stændigt liv som muligt uden for de store institutioner.
Den nuværende konflikt med Rusland og destruktionen af institutionerne i de to separatist-regioner, hvor man har været nødt til at evakuere beboerne til andre institutioner og der presset endnu flere ind under kummerlige forhold - og udsigten til den manglende varme i vinter, var naturligvis meget påtrængende for de to. Og DEH har sammen med paraplyorganisationen udformet en projektansøgning, som vi håber at kunne skaffe midler til inden så længe.

-It has been overwhelming and inspiring to see and meet the many dedicated people. Say thank you to those we have visited. We have gotten many exiting and concrete ideas back with us- and seen that people with intelligence disability can live outside the institutions.
In the first week of September TEH had invited the chairman and vice-chairman for the national umbrella organization for people with intelligence disability in Ukraine (same as LEV) on a visit in Denmark.
It was an intense program from morning to evening. We started with a visit to the Art school for the mentally disabled and the other offers on Svanevej in Copenhagen. We visited the social enterprise in Guldborgsund. Home and neighbourhood Praestoe, the parliament, the ombudsman, LEV, The council of people with disabilities in Stevns, the centre of voluntaries in Vesterbro, meeting with the Velux fond, the central council of people with disabilities, Centre for human rights and all the cultural, commercial and touristic you should see in Denmark. Plus naturally a whole lot of conversations about cooperation, what is needed- in the current crisis and a little further down the road, if people with mental disability should live an independent live as possible outside the huge institutions.
The current conflict with Russia and the destruction of the institutions in the two separatist-regions, it has been required to evacuate the residents to other institutions and there squeezed even more into poor conditions- and the prospect of the lack of heat in winter, was naturally very urgent for both of them. And TEH has together with the umbrella organization formed a project application, which we hope will soon get us resources
